Skin Service Review (Hydrate and Restore Facial): Kaya Skin Clinic, R City, Ghatkopar

Some people love facials. You know because someone is massaging their face, applying a mask and they tend of feel very pampered. Then there are people like me who are extremely restless and not fans of people touching their face. When I go for a facial, many things happen. One, I wonder what the people who are doing the facial think of my face, then I tend to get some or the other product into my eyes so both the therapist and I spend several minutes trying to clean my eyes. Third, I tend to get bored with the mask on my face so I remove the cotton pads from my eyes and start reading my phone. I quickly put the pads on my eyes when I hear the therapist returning because I don’t want them to think I cheated. Despite this and also due to the fact that I have a blog where I must do reviews, I decided to go in for a facial at Kaya Skin Clinic. Now, I obviously go to …

Store Review: Spa Ceylon

Yes, I know what you are thinking. Why would you review a store? Well because there is a lot more to the store than just it’s physical location and the products stacked everywhere. It’s an experience for the consumer. So, what should you expect besides cute salesmen (Zara does this right) and a functioning system for billing? Oh, lots more. Take a look at how Spa Ceylon measures up. The Area Spa Ceylon has been careful with its choice of locations. Each location is in a premium area – its outlet in Bandra is right at the beginning of Linking Road and the one in R City is an area that receives a lot of footfall thanks it being opposite a popular eatery. The area is important for visibility. I also strongly believe it lends it an air of credibility. Spa Ceylon gets it right on this front. The Space Spa Ceylon outlets are spacious and each area is marked clearly. The centre of the outlet features islands that hold soaps, gift boxes and a …

Spa Review: AromaThai Foot Spa, R City

If you’ve been spoiled by Thailand, India is no place for you. Cheap, paid services aren’t easily available here. By services, I mean massages but of course that’s what you were thinking as well. You know when you go to Thailand and there are so many massage parlours and you pop in for a foot massage and you feel awesome because it’s just so cheap? Yeah, that doesn’t happen in Mumbai. Especially if the place is located in a mall. I opted for a foot massage from Aromathai Foot Spa. What follows is a soleful experience. *Laughs manically* I love puns! The space Located on the third floor of R City, Aromathai Foot Spa stands awkwardly between a whole line of restaurants. The entrance consists of a tiny seating area and a desk behind which a spa manager stands. Inside, the foot massage area has four chairs and I couldn’t see much of the rest of the spa but they do offer full body therapies for which I assume they have rooms. This spa stands …

Hair Service Review: BBlunt, R City, Mumbai

The space BBlunt is a chain of salons started by Adhuna Akhtar (Farhan Akhtar’s wife) and her partners. As with anything decent, the central suburbs get the brand much after the rest of the world. So R City in Ghatkopar got its BBlunt on 22nd November, 2014. Just so you know, the first salon in Mumbai was start in 1998. BBlunt replaces Drama Salon on the 3rd floor. The salon interiors are a lot of black and white, distressed mirrors and old world switches. It was almost like walking through a Parsi household. When they wash your hair, you will notice that the pipes are pink and are fun to stare at for just that reason. The armchairs in the nails section look super interesting featuring a paisley print and the salon is spacious so your hair isn’t landing on someone else’s cape. The services I had booked an appointment and when I walked in and I generally prefer booking advance which gives the salon time to do its job well. They have 3 levels …
