5 Really Cool Makeup Takeaways from the Namrata Soni Masterclass

Recently, Innisfree invited me for a makeup masterclass with celebrity makeup artist Namrata Soni. Now, before we go anywhere, let me tell you, this woman is a total rockstar and I have been following her on Instagram for, well, just about forever. Innisfree is a Korean makeup brand that I was first introduced to when I made a trip to Delhi. The brand then came to Mumbai but since I found their skincare a little heavy for my face, I hadn’t made too many purchases from them. So the brand also has makeup which I knew but I kind of ignored. Their nail paints did look really interesting though. Anyway, I loved the masterclass with Namrat Soni. She gave us some really cool insider tips and tricks which, because I am an amazing person, I will share with you here. Do up your eyebrows When we are in a rush, we can be a little dismissive of eyebrows and will slap on some lipstick and be on our way. Namrata explained that big, bushy eyebrows …

This Rs.200 Product is Everything for Cleaning Makeup Brushes

Cleaning makeup brushes is no fun. Cleaning anything is no fun , I think. Except your nose maybe. That’s interesting. Mainly because even though you know what’s going to be there, it’s still a bunch of fun to dig away. That’s just gross. The thought. We were talking about cleaning makeup brushes people. How did I end up discussing nose stuff? Anyway, I was dilly-dallying on Amazon. in as usual, putting stuff into my cart and never really placing the order when I stumbled upon this little genius. You those massive Sigma mats that cost you a fortune and really in that much money, you would rather buy a new makeup product than clean it? Yeah, that one. Yeah, that’s for about Rs.3000. So, that’s not a good idea. Atleast for me. Then, I saw this. This thing called the brush egg. It sounds like something to give an egg a thorough cleanse but it’s not. It’s a makeup cleaning device that you slip on two of your fingers and give your brushes a good, …

I hired a Popular Makeup Artist from Mumbai and didn’t like her work. Here’s why.

So the big wedding in the family is over. My brother has been successfully attached to his hitherto girlfriend and they are well on their way to wedded bliss. If it can be called that. Anyway we hired (my sister in law and I) a popular Mumbai-based makeup artist who has some fabulous credentials to her name. We went over quite a few makeup artists’ work and liked her. Plus, she fit into the budget. Now, we asked this MUA to get a team with her to work on the other people- namely me, my mom, the two bridesmaids and the mother of the bride. She said she would get her ‘team’ with her. The makeup artist herself and an assistant would work on the bride, the other two people on the 5 of us. With the makeup artists sorted, we were happy. But things were to go downhill. And they did. The makeup was blotchy, cracking and made me look years older. And I list for you here, the reasons this didn’t work out …

Product Review: Lakme 9to 5 Lipstick in Toffee Nexus

I am not going to lie. I am a little worried about Instagram these days. Look, I am all for contouring and all that but when you start to get your footwear out and start lining your cheeks, it’s a little worrying. I mean, we are going to start picking up used tape, steel rods and what not and we may have to draw a line somewhere. Anyway, now that we have discussed that people are downright crazy, let’s discuss lippies. Yay. Nudes are always fun to wear. Because why not wear something that can make your lips look exactly like they do but just all the same shade. I have been on the fence about nude lipsticks but the more I wear them the more I like them. I was strongly recommended the Lakme 9 to 5 lipstick in Toffee Nexus. And here’s how it did. Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick  Feel: The lipstick is easy to swipe on and the it feels quite nice for a lipstick that does matte right. It doesn’t …

Product Review: L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes

I am not a mascara fan. I mean, I like it. Like normal people do but I don’t pee myself over a great lash lengthening product. And since fake lashes are taking over the world, mascaras are slowly becoming a little less important to the makeup kit. I have been what fake lashes can do and that is some is some glorious awesomeness. You can almost look like a different person. If that’s what you are aiming for. Why are you aiming for that though? Anyway, then I was trawling through Youtube as usual- no I do have stuff to do but Youtube is so insanely addictive. Anyhoo, we digress. So yes, I saw beauty bloggers going ‘OMG this masacara is the real deal ‘and all that and I thought, I must. I must buy it. Even if I don’t use it as much. So I bought it. And ladies and a few gentlemen (okay, one), I have to admit, this is the best mascara out there. No really, the best. Check out my review. …

These 2 Products are All You Need To Remove Your Makeup

You know what they say right? You should never, ever sleep with makeup on. Unless you are in a Hindi soap and that’s what you are required to do. But no, you are probably not, so you can’t. Or shouldn’t.  It causes breakouts, doesn’t let your skin breathe and basically makes your skin extremely tantrum-y. Which is never a good thing. But it can get extremely frustrating to have a long drawn cleansing routine and sometimes, you would rather just leave it on and then wake up in the morning with some major mascara goop in your eyes and panda eyes. That’s a great look. No really. Anyway, so if you are sick of having to do so much to take makeup off, I have threw out all the unnecessary stuff and you only have to buy two products and you get going. You’ll thank me when you can hit your bed earlier. Okay. First up is the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Makeup Removing Micelle Solution. Wow! That is a mouthful. This is micellar solution – which …

Nykaa Haul and Website Review

Okay, you can’t exactly call this a haul because I only bought two items but they are expensive okay? Expensive enough for Nykaa to send me a free nail polish and all. I bought this. See picture below. So the thing is, besides Nykaa, I don’t know many websites that stock as many beauty brands and products. Do you know any? I recently tried beautybay.com but their parcel that was dispatched on the 6th of April hasn’t made it to my place yet so, yeah, confidence is nosediving. Majorly. Anyway, let’s get on with the review, shall we? First things first. The interface of Nykaa is extremely average and very, very sales-y. I mean , just look at all these offers. And this is when you just log on to the website.   So, yeah, I don’t like the interface too much. They could definitely use some decluttering of the website. Have things look cleaner, nicer and make the shopping experience more relaxed than having to catch a sale you might miss. They have a …
