There comes a time in every blogger’s life where they must cave in to pressure of doing a routine post. I caved, okay? I gave in. But admit it, secretly, you were dying to know my nighttime skincare routine. No? Okay, atleast you are normal.
Anyway, after tweaking and turning my skincare routine upside down, I realised that a long-drawn routine just wasn’t my thing. If I am going to load up the products on my skin before I snooze, I get bored and don’t end up doing anything at all. So I truncated my to-dos. And here’s what I do now.
I was doing a makeup course with an academy called Fat Mu here in Mumbai. And we would have lots of makeup on our faces everyday. And that’s where I also discovered the beauty of micellar water. Micellar water has oil molecules suspended in it. It all sounds very fancy and it probably is but more importantly, I like what it does. Now, I knew about this. What with all the bloggers on Youtube raving about it but I never thought I needed it. But I did, it turns out. The best one to probably have stocked up on is the Bioderma one. It’s a tad expensive but worth it. So, with a cotton pad and this magical potion, I wipe the dirt and grime off my face. Caveat: It might be a struggle to take off waterproof makeup with this but you can turn to a trusty makeup remover for that, right?

Turning it around
So, you know about the time that my skin had major breakouts because of a facial? Yup, the lady went all out on my face and my skin still isn’t clear. It’s been 3 months. I went to a dermat and I did use what he recommended but it wasn’t working. So when I went to Dubai this time, I invested in a Clarisonic. Yes, that crazy expensive face brush? I bought it. And you know what? I love it. I love, love, love it. Plus, they say the Clarisonic used once during the night can help your night time products really sink in, so that helps. And the whole thing only takes a minute. Yup, only a minute.
Price: Rs. 10,000 approx for the Mia 2
All oiled up
Next, the apply the products that the Clarisonic has paved the way for. My favourite – The Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and I only take a drop but I do add it – the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. I put it on my palms, rub them together and then apply it on my face, neck and decolletage. I love how it smells, I love how luxurious it makes me feel and then I am ready to turn in for the night. I do wake up with my skin looking much smoother every morning so I know these work.
Price: Rs.3500 for Kiehl’s and I don’t know the price of the Estee Lauder, it was a gift.
And that’s it. I don’t apply lotion at night because it’s getting quite warm in Mumbai and it makes me feel clammy. I also don’t put on any night cream because I did try it and I get better results with this routine. If I have had a long day, I shower and then apply this lotion. Oh my god, it smells so good and you feel relaxed almost instantly. This entire thing takes about 5 minutes. That’s super by most standards.
I would love to know what you guys do before you tuck yourself in for the night. Tell me. 🙂
