I am really scared to make a mention of the word beauty or fitness nowadays. It leads to me being bombarded with ads of beauty companies and trial classes from every app that is available.
Recently, I gave in. Yes, I am weak like that. I saw an ad for a free trial for a fitness class and decided to take up the challenge. So I logged on to Housejoy. A great thing about this was that I was actually able to book a session on the website. They didn’t force me into downloading an app. So, I used to the website to book the session. It was quick, they didn’t ask me all sorts of questions and keep me guessing for the longest time which was good. I keyed in all the details and then waited.
And waited some more. Nothing happened. Then I got an email saying you have asked for a fitness session and someone will get in touch with you. I got around to booking this session on 26th October which was a Monday for a session on Thursday.
On 27th October, I got an email saying Irfan Mirza had accepted my job. This was sent to me along with a passport size picture of him. I don’t know why. Were they expecting me to grant him a visa or something? We shall never know.
After this, Irfan got in touch with me to say that he couldn’t come because he already had a client for Thursday at the same time, given to him by Housejoy. Which makes the company sound like it doesn’t give a rat’s bottom about what the customer wants. So I pushed the session to Saturday and the finally to Tuesday – today.
On Friday, I got a call from someone at Housejoy saying Saturday could be done. I said i could not do Saturday. She then said she would give me someone else for Tuesday. I was so confused, I agreed. She called me yesterday – 2nd November to confirm today’s session. She also asked if I would like to postpone it like that was some hobby of mine.
Fitness Class Review
I didn’t receive any confirmation about who was going to be coming or if any one was going to turn up at all. Since this was a group workout, I had already asked a few people to come over for the session so I was hoping some one would turn up. At 6:50, Pritesh calls informing me that I have a session. I was like erm, yes, I booked it. He says he will turn up by 7:15 for the session. He wasn’t here till almost 7:30. No apology about being late for a session that was supposed to start at 7 was forthcoming. We ignored it. The class started. It was basic class and while we mentioned a couple of times that we did work out regularly, Pritesh didn’t seem very interested in that and kept asking us questions about if this workout was too difficult (It wasn’t and we were taking several pauses in between). The session was a mix of freehand excercises, yoga and even some kickboxing. Overall, it was okay. He then sold Housejoy to us and went his merry way.
I then got a follow up call from the company. The rates quoted to me for my area were:
For 4 people, twice a week for a month – Rs. 14000 (3500 per person)
For 4 people, thrice a week for 3 months – Rs. 32000 (8000 per person)
Destress Quotient: 0.5 AAHs (?)
Like many other aggregators, Housejoy suffers from average talent that hasn’t been whetted for quality or as in this case, punctuality. Of course, that they have terrible service is another downer. Plus, the charges seem extremely high for Ghatkopar. I wouldn’t bank on losing weight but some wallet weight might go missing.
