The season to be jolly is right around the corner. However, the season to be sticky and look like a frying pan is here and isn’t that exciting? No? Just me? Okay then. The thing is, it’s hot and you feel like you are melting so no one really wants to slather on layers of moisturiser. And that’s perfectly normal but really and truly you cannot skip on the moisturiser.

Thank god some companies were nice and realised that there are plenty of women out there who are into moisturising and loving their face, at the same time even. So I found 3 moisturisers that work their magic in gel form. Yes, it’s actually true. These pots have moisturisers that are so subtle, they glide on the skin and disappear almost instantly. *engages in passionate kissing with inventor of product*. And you won’t feel sticky and you won’t feel suffocated, your skin will thank you.

Now because not all of us want to give up on meals for their moisturiser, I found and used three products – each with a different price point that deliver on their promise.

The Experimenter

You have read this article and realise, this woman- she’s the real deal and all that, but aren’t willing to go all out crazy on a daily essential just yet. You know that this could gel with your beauty routine (see what I did there?) but it’s virgin territory and you aren’t willing to dig deep into your pockets just yet. Well, here’s your answer.

The Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Gel Creme

Lakme1

Feel: It’s lightweight and airy and once you apply a few dots on your face and dab it in, you won’t even feel it. No, really I mean it. It’s almost perfect for this clammy weather. It doesn’t have SPF so you are going to need to put that on separately.

Fragrance: It’s got the kind of smell that I associate with a clinical beauty product. It doesn’t have any fruity or natural smell. The fragrance lingers for a bit but it isn’t overpowering.

Price: Rs.399 for 50g

Verdict: At this price, I don’t even know why you are still sitting here reading this article. The Gel Creme promises to give you a light sheen but that didn’t come through on my face. It won’t make your face look oily for sure though.

The Spender

If you are the kind of who loves a bit of an indulgence and the price tag isn’t a deal breaker, this is where you find your moisturising soulmate. I have been using this product for almost 4 months and I am a happy puppy. Here are the deets.

The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream

The Body Shop1

Feel: This one does feel slightly more heavy than the Lakme Gel Creme but that’s just in comparison. On it’s on it feels easy and fine and does mattify the face to a great extent. It goes on easy and gets absorbed quite quickly as well. I recommend using tiny quantities of this product, a small dollop goes a long way.

Fragrance: The fragrance of this product is super mild which makes me think well of it. The smell stays on for only a few seconds after application- which could be good or bad- depending on what you expect from your product.

Price: Rs.995 for 50g

Verdict: Hey, this is the spend category so you are going to have to dig deeper into the pocket. However, that price for almost a use of anything from 2-4 months? Justified, methinks.

The Splurge

I’ll admit it, I love Clinique products. Yes, they don’t have natural or organic labels but some of their products are bloody brilliant (Ooh, what aggression). So I came across the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief when I bought a bunch of other products. Everything you need to know is below.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief  Gel (Not Intense)

Cinique1

Feel: This one feels like magic. Again, you want to take a tiny amount and dot it around your face and then preen as it disappears almost instantly. Then, you come back here and thank me and leave me kisses in the comments. I promise you won’t even be able to tell it’s there.

Fragrance: Almost nothing. Unless my nose gave up on me, this product had practically no fragrance. I love yummy smelling products but this was so good I was okay with the no-scented tub.

Price: Rs. 2500-3300 for a 50g tub

Verdict: If you feel a splurge coming on, this one is well worth it. It delivers on everything it promises- hydration, moisturising and all – but still doesn’t make your face sticky. What’s not to love?

Caveat : I know many people are a little finicky about the fact that these come in tubs but I am the only person using these in my house so I am okay.

  1. They all do sound like some great products. But I guess I’d pick the one from The Body shop ‘coz they are au naturale
