5 fitness tips from Sucheta Pal, Zumba Education Specialist

Over this weekend, well, technically only 6th of December, Phoenix Market City in Kurla had #FitFest going on. They had healthy eating workshops, Zumba classes, self defence classes and much more lined up. It was a terribly managed event with no visible signage of this going on, no timelines being met (The Zumba class that was supposed to start at 5:30pm started at 6:15) and no one really there to tell you what was going on. The word fest has been used very broadly in this context. There were a stalls here. The Aromathai Day Spa people gave up on trying to get clients and packed up by about 6pm. The other places like a brand selling active wear from Brazil looked deserted and no one seemed to be buying anything. Anyway, in all this, I managed to speak to Sucheta Pal who is a Zumba Education Specialist and Master Trainer for India. Which means that she’s the one who trains all the trainers who teach you Zumba. Here are her 5 tips to keeping …

HouseJoy Service + Trial Fitness Class Review

I am really scared to make a mention of the word beauty or fitness nowadays. It leads to me being bombarded with ads of beauty companies and trial classes from every app that is available. Recently, I gave in. Yes, I am weak like that. I saw an ad for a free trial for a fitness class and decided to take up the challenge. So I logged on to Housejoy. A great thing about this was that I was actually able to book a session on the website. They didn’t force me into downloading an app. So, I used to the website to book the session. It was quick, they didn’t ask me all sorts of questions and keep me guessing for the longest time which was good. I keyed in all the details and then waited. And waited some more. Nothing happened. Then I got an email saying you have asked for a fitness session and someone will get in touch with you. I got around to booking this session on 26th October which …

5 Nutrition and Diet Tips from Pooja Makhija

On Saturday, Fitternity invited bloggers and other social media people for a interesting session with Pooja Makhija who is a nutritionist to many stars like Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor and the like. She’s also the author of the book ‘Eat.Delete’. So anyway, the session was to happen at Temperance Studio in Bandra which is carefully tucked away, you’ll take some time just figuring out where it is. I got there at about 3:40, by which time people had already been waiting for ten minutes and were starting to get impatient. Also, when I entered everyone turned around to stare because, well, the door was creaky and they were expecting Pooja to walk in. After getting antsy for about 15 more minutes, Pooja finally came in. She, and kiwis, were introduced to us by a person from Fitternity. Pooja started a monologue which while interesting really needed a pump of energy or humour. Also, she started talking about children and their nutrition and I tuned out at that point. Anyway, we did get some super guidance, …
