BigStylist.com, a Home Salon Service Review. Is it worth it?

Among the home salon services, I think I have now officially covered all of them. I know that sounds very comprehensive but these people advertise to me on Facebook and Instagram all the time, so really, not so difficult. But, and I have said this before, the thing with home salon services is that you actually have to get off your bum and help the person out which, well, not so fun. Anyway, I got the people at BigStylist over. Here’s what happened. First things first, they tell you that you can get 4 services done for Rs.999. This is not true. Once you do go to the website and click on the services you want, all the while feeling rather smug for getting such a good deal, you get a rude shock when you get a message saying you’ve booked services for Rs.1149. While that certainly isn’t expensive, if I am going to pay taxes or whatever, just let me know upfront. The Service Once I made the booking and made peace with the …

App + Salon Service Review: Timesaverz

I have been away and travelling to shop for my brother’s wedding which happens in September. Also, I was under the weather and covered with 4 blankets. Not fun. I got an email from the people over at Timesaverz who said they wanted me to try out their beauty services to which I promptly agreed. Then, I had to leave town and unless the beauty lady came tagging along which would be slightly awkward, this would have to wait. So I decided to have the service later. And I did. Here’s my review of the app and the beauty services provided. They gave me a Rs.1000 beauty voucher to use. I used the code they gave me in their app when I booked the appointment. I downloaded their app for to test things out. So, before you say anything at all the app asks you where you live. And then you hope that your area is included in 294 places that it serves. I made it through and went straight to the beauty services. I …

Nykaa Haul and Website Review

Okay, you can’t exactly call this a haul because I only bought two items but they are expensive okay? Expensive enough for Nykaa to send me a free nail polish and all. I bought this. See picture below. So the thing is, besides Nykaa, I don’t know many websites that stock as many beauty brands and products. Do you know any? I recently tried beautybay.com but their parcel that was dispatched on the 6th of April hasn’t made it to my place yet so, yeah, confidence is nosediving. Majorly. Anyway, let’s get on with the review, shall we? First things first. The interface of Nykaa is extremely average and very, very sales-y. I mean , just look at all these offers. And this is when you just log on to the website.   So, yeah, I don’t like the interface too much. They could definitely use some decluttering of the website. Have things look cleaner, nicer and make the shopping experience more relaxed than having to catch a sale you might miss. They have a …

Nail Service Review: Looks Salon, Saket, Delhi

It’s been a while since I have posted huh? Well, I have been travelling. And I went to Delhi. Now since I was there for a couple of days, I did a few things. Of course, I did consume an insane amount of food. How do people in Delhi even try and stay skinny? And then I went over to the salons everyone told me about and did reviews. Here’s a review of the Looks Salon in Saket. Looks is one of the popular salons in the Delhi / Gurgaon area and pretty much every popular place you go to ends up having Looks, Affinity and Geetanjali, literally next to each other. I went to Looks first. But don’t worry (not that you were, because who worries about that?) I have covered the others as well. The Space Look, we know. Delhi has no space constraints. So obviously, this salon was big. A little bit like a labyrinth with tiny passageways to I don’t know mysterious hair treatments but big nonetheless. I went to the …

5 Best Beauty Buys of 2015

So the year is coming to an end and this is a fabulous time for all of us. We can dress up, party, drink ridiculous amount of alcohol and generally have a fabulous time with friends and family. To end this year on a high note, here’s my pick of the best beauty buys of 2015. I say beauty buys because these products have probably been around for a while but 2015 is when I fell in love with them. In no particular order, here they are: Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate You know I love this product- I dedicated an entire review to it here. The smell, the work it does- fabulous overall. Yes, it’s pricey but I fell in love with what it had to offer and have been using it ever since I bought it. That says a lot for someone who tends to get bored pretty quickly. 2. Illuskin Facial Primer from Oriflame (The One range) I don’t think I have raved about this product enough. I have a bit but this …

Product Review: Sally Hansen Instant Nail Hardener

So you know how I love my nails and all that right? And obviously companies also know this because I am a sucker for anything that promises pretty hands or pretty nails. Lately, my nails were splitting and peeling pretty regularly and I have no idea why. And it depresses me to have to file my nails down to ensure I can still keep my talons. Which probably explains why I fell for this: The Sally Hansen Instant Nail Hardener which claims to stop nails from breaking- a bold, huge font. And as it goes, here’s my review of the product. Sally Hansen Instant Nail Hardener First off, you will have no idea how to use the product. I mean, there’s nothing on the packaging to tell you. I know, I know, how difficult can it be right? It’s supposed to be put on the nails. But still it would be nice if it was put somewhere I could read it before I actually buy the product. Also, the instructions are starting to disappear? That’s …
