Look, health and me don’t look eye to eye. I mean, I love french fries and whipped cream and Health rolls its eyes every time I have like two fries or spoonful of whipped cream. Okay, it may be because I don’t stop at two fries. Or because that whipped cream is at the top of a nutella jar. But who’s judging right? Health is. But, I do know how important health is and I have been taking small steps to turn things around. Just doing my little bit to get healthier and eat better. Here are 5 simple hacks to making small changes to getting more healthy. Without compromising on cravings. Promise, this is better than the other things.

  1. Switch it up

Date Night Relationship

You know if I am going to say that you should have fruits all the time, you are going to throw something in my face. So, I won’t say it. Here’s the deal. Switch up one snack. So if you tend to get hungry at 11am and 4pm, make one of these snacks a fruit. Just one. See, easy peasy.

2. Lunch is magic.

If you really don’t want to give up your pizza or cheesy dish, have it for lunch. That way, you have the entire day to burn off the calories. And you don’t load up for dinner which should be light, but yum.

3. Sip on warm liquids.

Green Tea

I know this sound kind of silly. Like, this isn’t going to work. But it does. You could choose to have green tea, or just warm water with lemon. Have it before a meal. And you won’t feel as hungry. How’s this for a hack?

4. Find your sweet spot.

Maybe you love french fries (who doesn’t) or cupcakes, whatever it is, find out what you love and plan ahead. If you know you are going to be where your favourite bakery is, instead of skipping on that cake, have a smaller meal ahead of time and leave place for your cupcake. Don’t fight the temptation and regret it. I have done that plenty of times and then I get dreams of cupcakes. #truestory

5. Add in a small workout


Instead of stressing out about a workout, include it any shape or form into your routine. Take a walk with a colleague you like, go dancing , jump on a trampoline with your kid, go cycling with the neighbourhood hottie. Anything at all that will get you moving. Keep doing this and over time, you’ll be wanting more. Also, be realistic. You can’t jog 5kms on the first day, maybe you can walk it. Point is, sweat.
