Product Review:Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Dream Pink

Yes, I must be lazy. This is my first post of 2016! I feel like I have been ignoring my blog and that’s not a good feeling. Anyway, I am back. With reviews and well, some more reviews. My year started on a good note and I hope yours did too.

A few months ago, a friend of mine (we should really become best friends after a gift like this) gifted me an Estee Lauder Gift Pack which had two nail shades and one lipstick. Now, I obviously swooned over owning an Estee Lauder product that I hadn’t paid for. Yes, I am easily excited like that. And that’s how I have this lipstick. I’ll admit, I didn’t get around to trying this early on because I had few trusty lip shades that look just so good on me that experimenting is just that, an experiment.

I did get around to trying this one though, and here’s how it fared.

Feel: These guys have been making makeup gurus so obviously the feel is going to be fantastic and it is. It goes on like butter- butter that’s been melted just right. It’s like satin on your lips. Yes, it’s kind of awesome.

Fragrance: It smells sweet and mildly fresh. No makeup smell, yay for that.

Price: There’s no website that mentions it but anything from Rs. 1500+ for a tube

Shade: Dream Pink.  See swatch below.

The Water Test: I like to test my lipsticks with the ‘Water Test’ which is where I apply the lipstick and drink water from the glass and see if its transferable and if the colour stays put. This one is like ‘Whoa, what you doing there? I am not moving.’ and then just stubbornly sits there on your lips. It’s so cool.

Verdict: I like this lippy. I really do. It feels super luxurious and very diva-ish. However, I do think that this isn’t a shade I would buy if I went shopping for myself. One, it’s got a slight, very subtle but noticeable glossy finish. I am into matte lips right now so, I didn’t love it. Second, the shade will suit people with lighter skin tones because on me it just didn’t sit right. Lip colours should make you happy right? This one made me smile but not jump with joy.
