Update: Makeup Revolution launches store in Mumbai. A Hilarious account of the opening.

Makeup Revolution London has been this underrated brand that has quietly snuck up on us. We were sitting here gathering money by selling our kidneys to buy makeup and suddenly, this new kid on the block comes around. It was cheaper. Much , much cheaper and had very good products. Well, atleast some of them were very good products.  Their blush palette in Golden Sugar ? OMG. I gush about it here: https://damselindestress.in/2016/05/02/product-review-makeup-revolution-london-ultra-blush-palette-in-golden-sugar/ So when I got a message on Tuesday about them opening up a physical store, I lost my marbles. I was like, yeah baby, bring it on. I got a message about how they were inviting me to the exclusive launch of their flagship store. I was excited. I replied to that message saying I was in and that I would want to take videos and pictures and all that. When there was silence from the other end, I called the number and made conversation about me wanting to be there. A sleepy lady told me ,’Great, she would see me there’ and …

Product Review: Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Colour

I have been a fan of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams for a while now. When I say a fan, it basically means that I have been hoarding them and have a lot of them. Some of them I am on my second tube and some I have scooped so deeply, I am afraid my applicator will come out of the other side. You know the other side- the one where Adele is. That was a terrible joke. So, anyway, Lakme introduced a new line of matte mousse lip and cheek colours and it’s very, very, in fact suspiciously similar to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. I am not going to justify my saying it’s suspicious and just leave it there for you to think over and wonder. Leave it, it’s nothing. So I bought a two shades from the Lakme range- Coffee Lite and Tangerine Fluff- and here’s my review. Lakme 9 t 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Colour Feel: It comes in a tube that gives up nothing. So if …

This Rs.200 Product is Everything for Cleaning Makeup Brushes

Cleaning makeup brushes is no fun. Cleaning anything is no fun , I think. Except your nose maybe. That’s interesting. Mainly because even though you know what’s going to be there, it’s still a bunch of fun to dig away. That’s just gross. The thought. We were talking about cleaning makeup brushes people. How did I end up discussing nose stuff? Anyway, I was dilly-dallying on Amazon. in as usual, putting stuff into my cart and never really placing the order when I stumbled upon this little genius. You those massive Sigma mats that cost you a fortune and really in that much money, you would rather buy a new makeup product than clean it? Yeah, that one. Yeah, that’s for about Rs.3000. So, that’s not a good idea. Atleast for me. Then, I saw this. This thing called the brush egg. It sounds like something to give an egg a thorough cleanse but it’s not. It’s a makeup cleaning device that you slip on two of your fingers and give your brushes a good, …

Product Review: Bed Head Tigi Re-Energize Treatment Mask

Wow, I have been away from the writing bit for a while now. Just been talking a lot on my Youtube channel. Whattey subtle plug! Here it is, in case you want to hop over and subscribe. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6DMSOeu1dcO8H3bSfwA9Zw So, I do like Bed Head Tigi products a lot. And not only because you can read their label while on the pot. It’s really interesting. No, really. But because I genuinely like how they work. So when the PR people offered to send me some products, I was like, hell yeah. Now, I have already used the shampoos from Bed Head- The Urban Anti-Dote shampoo and conditioner (LOVE!) and The Colour Goddess (LOVE! but it hasn’t got a review on the blog)- and I was expecting a lot from this one. Now, even before I got this one, I bought the Small Talk and I didn’t love it. I was quite disappointed because it comes with a heavy price tag. One kidney has been sold already. Anyway, so I spent a couple of weeks with this product …

How do you know Diwali is here? Because every brand is showing you ads with diyas and everyone is gifting someone something.Though all I seem to get for Diwali is sweets and diyas, both of which I pass on to other people. Hair Service Review:Mookh Salon, Phoenix Market City, Kurla

Phoenix Market City in Kurla has a new salon. A salon called Mookh. It’s been around for a while but because I was gallivanting around town, I did not have time to pen down this post. Now, I went on a weekday, because that’s how I roll. Now, this place is easily missable. In fact, many places on this side of the mall are. But, but , I happened to be on that side once and simply had to review it. So, let’s get right to it. The Space I told you it was missable, yes? It is. Also, it has been designed by someone with a particular and peculiar penchant for white. The whole place can give you an alien vibe. Because I don’t know about you but when I go to a salon, I do want to feel like I am in outer space. It’s very white with little pops of blue. I went there for a hair spa and this area was cave like with you being seated under some seriously black ceiling. …

Skin Service Review (Women): Skin Story, Bandra West

You know how I have sworn off facials right? I just give my face a good clean with my Clarisonic every night. But the brother’s wedding was coming and I thought I would give one a go. I had read about the Skin Story in another story and they are supposed to have artisanal facials, so I thought this would be the kind of place I should give a whirl. It looked like a nice place. It seemed like the kind of place where the lady doing my facial wouldn’t have fingers smelling of gobi or wasn’t auditioning for a role in a utensil cleaning equipment commercial and didn’t want to scrub my face off . So, this is the story of Skin Story. The Space The Skin Story is easily missable. It sits atop some shops and if you aren’t looking for it, you’ll probably drive past it a couple of times before you give up and ask for directions. It’s only appropriate that there’s a eye care place below it, because it can test …
